Photo House South is a creatives’ guide focusing on visual journalists from Africa and the Diaspora. Celebrating creative excellence in visual storytelling whilst embracing the talent and skill that has manifested on the continent. Elevating the space by sharing free educational and informative material is our mission to offer and maintain accessibility in the realm of visual content creation and its industry. A movement to reclaim, humanise, and welcome the work and stories of African photographers through empowering visual journalists and their creative journey.
Our pursuit to enable and support a talented community of visual storytellers that share an understanding of the importance of true and honest visual depictions of the Continent and its People starts with accessibility and representation. Through encouraging a safe space for African Visual Storytellers and their stories is Photo House South opening up a new world of visual content. Our Photo House South Network is an ever-growing source of inspiration and influence, for African visual journalists and their stories. With our goal to empower African photojournalists and documentary photographers, we are eager to challenge and deconstruct outdated structures of the media and creative industry. Whilst navigating through the maze of western media content, we are thriving for a truly diverse representation in this industry.
